Dickinson Area Community Fund

2006 Field of Interest (Program Grant) Funds

Field of Interest Funds are established by donors to address issues/concerns in areas that are of specific interest to the donor – for instance, environmental issues, health issues, civic issues, fine arts as a few examples.  Donors may establish new Funds or donate to existing Funds.  The earned income from the Field of Interest Funds is granted to area non-profit agencies and organizations for specific programs each Fall, during the Foundation’s annual grant cycle.


£ Administrative Endowment Fund:  Earned income used from this fund to ensure the continuation of the community foundation. 

£ Civic Improvement Fund:  Earned income to be used for grant making that would allow community leaders to invest time, energy and even secure funds in processes that help our communities to collaborate together. 

£ Community Health Fund:  Earned income from Tobacco Settlement dollars to be used for grant making that would address youth and senior tobacco related health issues and tobacco cessation and use prevention programs. 

£ Environmental-Natural Resources Fund:  Earned income from this fund to be used for grant making for projects that improve or create methods of enhancing the natural resources within the region. 

£ Fine Arts Fund:  Earned income from this fund to be used for grant making for projects in the area of theatrical, musical & performing arts. 

£ Health Access Fund:  Earned income from this fund used for grants for prevention, primary physical health care, educational and other health-related services. 

£ Homeless Prevention Fund:  Earned income from this fund used to provides funding to assist people in need to prevent loss of homes.

£ Hunger Fund:  Earned income from this fund used for grants to organizations that provide food to people in need. 

£ Kellogg Youth Fund:  All earned income from this fund is granted by the Dickinson Youth Advisory Committee made up of local youth in the Iron Mountain/Kingsford area.

£ Unrestricted Endowment:  Foundation Board of Trustees determine distribution of income. 

£ Visual Arts Fund:  Earned income from this fund is granted to promote the visual arts for youth in the area. 

The following fund is in the process of being created: 

£ WILD Fund:  This is a new fund currently being promoted.  The WILD (Women Inspiring Leadership & Determination) Fund’s primary purpose is to make a difference in the lives of women and girls in our area.  Earned income from this fund will be granted to local non-profit organizations that address issues that impact women and girls, and will also be awarded in scholarships for women of all ages in the area.
